Sd.Kfz.234/4 Pakwagen Battle of Berlin, May, 1945 (1:72) by Hobby Master Diecast Military Armor
Item Number: HG4303
The eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz.234/4 was created as a stop gap measure. Designed as an anti-tank destroyer it was in a way similar to the Marder Tank Destroyer because it was poorly armored and had an open top making the crew very vulnerable. This vehicle was able to neutralize almost every enemy tank of that time as long as it wasn'_'__t a head to head engagement. The Sd.Kfz.234/4 was primarily used by reconnaissance companies and provided anti-tank support for other reconnaissance vehicles.
By late 1944 Germany was on the defensive. The main threat was the much larger numbers of the Soviet Army men and equipment. To counter this, Germany placed the PaK-40 75 mm cannon on vehicles with suitable chassis'_'__s. One vehicle was the eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz.234, essentially a Puma with the turret removed and a PaK-40 anti-tank Gun in its place. The Sd. Kfz.234/4 was the last of the eight-wheel armored cars built and because of the continual Allied bombing of the German factories only 89 were produced.
