USAF EC-121D "Warning Star" with Collector Tin (1:400) by
Item Number: DRW55740
Derived from the Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation commercial passenger airplane, the EC-121D was first developed as an airborne radar-picket military plane which carried massive special electronic gear. A total of 72 EC-121D entered service with the Air Defense Command in 1953, operating patrols off the US West coast.
During the Vietnam War, these unarmed radar aircraft provided early warnings for other US aircraft flying missions over North Vietnam, thus earning a reputation of "Warning Star". The aircraft was also used for aiding in downing enemy planes, directing US aircraft to their aerial refueling tankers and guiding rescue planes to downed pilots during its service in Southeast Asia.
This Dragon's latest new-tooled warbird replica comes with complete authenticity, new markings and a nicely designed collectors tin.
